Wholesale and retail prices for watermelons in the Ukrainian market continue to decline. Thus, on Tuesday morning, July 28, large batches of watermelons could be bought for UAH 8/kg, while retail prices the day before were UAH 12/kg, reports UNIAN.
As observers of the “Stolichny Market” explain, wholesale buyers are those who immediately purchase a truckload.
“These are wholesalers who can set up many points of sale in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. They buy a whole truckload at once – today the price was 8-9 UAH/kg. Smaller wholesale lots – from 100 kilograms – cost from 10 to 12 UAH/kg, depending on the size and variety,” the review states.
At the same time, the retail price for watermelons in the market the day before was 12-13 UAH/kg, according to observers. It is noted that the Stolichny Market in Kyiv has set up the largest trading platform specifically for watermelons this season.

Regarding the “Shuvar” market in Lviv, watermelons are sold here on average for 18 hryvnias per kilogram, writes UNIAN. Over the weekend, the price of the fruit dropped from 22.5 UAH/kg.
“This year, watermelons in Lviv started selling at a higher price than in 2025, but the fruit also became cheaper more actively. A year ago, watermelons at “Shuvar” cost 17 UAH/kg. The difference in watermelon prices in Kyiv and Lviv is explained by the fact that the main production capacities for melons in Ukraine are located in the south. So, as long as there is demand in the capital, watermelons will be transported here primarily due to the twice shorter logistical chain,” explain the experts.
