Despite the postponed deadlines for the implementation of the EU Deforestation-free Products Regulation (EUDR), Ukrainian grain exporters should already prepare for the new requirements. To automate the verification of product origin and establish complete supply chain traceability, the company Feodal has developed the digital tool FieldTrace.

Andriy Demyanovych discussed the service’s capabilities on his Facebook page. SuperAgronom.com reports.

“Imagine a trader who buys soybeans from three hundred farmers and transports them to the EU. They’ve checked some of the documents – they seem clean. But then the grain from dozens of farms is brought to one elevator and physically mixed in a silo, part of it is transported closer to the port, then again – and at the moment of loading, the buyer from Rotterdam asks a simple question: ‘Prove that this batch is precisely from these fields and that you haven’t sold more than could have grown there.’ And in their hands, they have an Excel sheet with hundreds of farmers, thousands of fields (some are crooked in different formats), and dozens of transports. One mistake – a duplicated volume or unproven origin, or suddenly deforestation somewhere in Volyn. For EUDR, both mean the same thing: the cargo is stuck at the border. FieldTrace closes this gap between ‘field verified’ and ‘ton proven’,” he explains.

Andriy Demyanovych states that FieldTrace will significantly simplify the procedure in a few steps and allow for a 95% reduction in compliance time.

Create compliance requests: The compliance manager creates a request for the supplier. If fields are not immediately available, they send a link to the farmer, who then draws the boundaries on the map themselves, without any login.
Automatically verify land bank: Field contours, plot boundaries, State Land Cadastre + State Register of Real Property Rights, detailed analytics of property rights: lease, sublease, beneficial owner, contract terms, and document dates – with triggers for problem areas. Full automation of data collection.
Assess deforestation risks: Includes processing and visualization, without reliance on third-party paid services, with the generation of PDF reports.
Control shipments according to approved quotas assigned during the compliance stage.
Maintain traceability during logistics at each hop – every movement of grain between elevators, hubs, transshipment points, or terminals is recorded without loss of origin information.
Automatically generate shipments according to European Commission methodology: The FIFO algorithm declares source fields with the necessary data buffer according to EUDR requirements.
Prepare data for reporting and integration: Users can export GeoJSON files for DDS, view dashboards with quotas and traceability, and integrate the system with accounting software via API.

According to Andriy Demyanovych, the main goal of FieldTrace is to bridge the gap between verifying individual fields and confirming the origin of a specific export batch. This should help traders prepare documents for European buyers more quickly, minimize the risk of errors during compliance, and avoid cargo delays at the border due to non-compliance with EUDR requirements.
