The Ukrainian market for butter in July continues to be under pressure due to an excess of products and limited sales opportunities. Demand remains weak, and domestic prices do not cover production costs. This is reported by Infagro analysts.
According to their data, despite a slight increase in butter prices in Europe, exports to EU countries remain economically unprofitable for most Ukrainian producers. The most attractive offers come from buyers in the Caucasus countries, while the European market does not provide sufficient profitability.
At the same time, exports of Ukrainian butter continue to shrink. Packaged products still see the highest demand, which currently allows producers to achieve minimal profit. By the end of the first half of 2026, butter export volumes had nearly halved compared to the same period last year. Export prices have also decreased simultaneously.
Analysts note that supplies to European Union countries remain insignificant. In their opinion, the main obstacle to increasing exports is not tariff restrictions, but low purchase prices in the European market. Due to this, market participants do not expect a significant increase in exports to the EU in the second half of the year.
As previously reported by AgroPolit.com, Ukraine and the European Union have extended the transport visa-free regime. Additionally, duties on soybeans and rapeseed may block Ukraine’s access to the EU.
